hi Mrs lee how great to see you in Nanyang primary school!but can you cover the courtyard with a transparent glass or maybe plastic filled with air-con?It can prevent soccer ball from rolling down and when we play soccer or PE, we will not sweat. What do you think? thanks!
Mrs Lee said...
I maybe quite a challenge to the structure. Not safe to play on the tiled surface. The idea is also to have the sports played outdoor for pupils to sweat it out too.

hi Mrs Lee, I hope you have a nice day. sorry to bother you about this but I think it needs immediate attention. In the morning after the Malay class, we always find the things under the tables missing and litter all over the floor. I hope you can turn more attention to the classroom. Our teachers have already told the Malay class but they don't listen.
Mrs Lee said...
I will forward to the Discipline Com to help follow up to educate our pupils & teacher in-charge of Malay Conversation to check before dismissing the pupils in future. Thank you for sharing your concern.

I really am enjoying my last year in Nanyang with you as principal. just a suggestion, I think the Primary 6 teachers really should follow the 5 minutes break routine. The students are usually very tired after long periods of sitting at our seats listening. Thank you.
Mrs Lee said...
I will understand from the teachers on the difficulties they faced in implementing. If we agree to have the break, we will try to carry out.
Liang Shuyu 6G said...
dear mrs lee, we were actually supposed to get our five minute break every half an hour as research has shown that children lose their concentration easily after half an hour, and a five minute break to allow them to rest will be good. but some teachers think that having a five minute break is a waste of time. especially for the p6. but it is important, or the words will just go in one ear, and out the other.nowadays, we find our five minute breaks reduced to only two times a day. IS THAT FAIR? and some teachers forbid us to lie down on the table, or even rest our heads on our hands. it is indeed a form of disrespect. and, some teachers dont like it because during the breaks, some children can get very noisy, and it will be hard to settle them down again. but it is better than wasting your breath on words that cant even enter the skulls of tired children. i hope the teachers will follow the five minute bteak, and not ignore it any more. :) thank you for hearing me out. have a nice day, or night, or wheneva u r reading this. =DDD
Mrs Lee said...
I understand the teachers meant good & are anxious for the P6. I also agree that learning must be effective & productive. I will request the Discipline Com to help review with the teachers at the end of the year. Appreciate your input.

Dear mrs Lee,glad to have you as a principal here in NYPS!To not beat about the bush, please ask the children using the girls toilet not to step on the seat as whenever I go in,black footprint marks would be on it.Thank you:)
Mrs Lee said...
Oh dear, some children do not know how to use the toilet with bowl. First, we need to ensure the toilet seats are clean before anyone wants to sit on them. Next we may have to provide squatting toilet for others. Let us get the office to survey before we decide.

As we do not know the number of children who are interested in archery, we can try it out as an enrichment programme or after exam activity first. If interest sustains, we can then run it yearly.

Dear Mrs Lee,
Its nice to have you as my principal. Lets get straight to the point. In order to be a world class school, we should save by saving the envirmonent by not littering. The Nanyang pupils should try to be neat and tidy everyday. We should also respect our classmates just like how we respect you and the teachers.
Mrs Lee said...
I fully agreed with your point. Please share with me if you have any ideas on how can we make the school more inviting. It has been decided that this is going to be our focus for next year

When it rains, we cannot have PE in the open, so we have to play indoors. However, other classes may already be using the hall and meeting point. Thus, some classes may have to share the space with other classes for PE, and we cannot do much. Could there be more space set aside for PE lessons during bad weather?
Mrs Lee said...
With the Indoor Sport Hall, things should be better.
Chiang Yan Qi 5K said...
Dear Mrs Lee,
We could have the lockers in the classroom instead of outside so thst the pupils can access their things easily. Also, the things can be safer. The corridors will also look neater and less dangerous(children might trip over the open doors of the lockers when running along the corridors).
Mrs Lee said...
Having lockers in the classroom will reduce the learning and activity areas in the classroom. However, the safety of the pupils is important. We will see how can we avoid swinging locker doors.

I believe that we should have chess lessons of an hour a week for the P1s-P5s as chess can exercise the mind by harnessing precision, patience, and concentration, which would definitely help in every day studies and exams. Also chess can help in math as it needs calculation of many things like the number of defenders and attackers of a certain peice or combinations.
Mrs Lee said...
Pupils may enjoy a game of chess during recess and after school. Lessons are meant to introduce chess to all pupils.

I would also like to suggest that the no. of SCIENTS LABS is increased.
And the studying enviroments be inproved too!!
I would also like the school to not let newcomer teachers teach p5s
Mrs Lee said...
We are having 5 periods of PE in 2011. Your suggestion will be considered by the Science Department. Teachers always work in teams and new teachers are mentored.
Thung You Xuan 5L said...
There are some problems when queuing up, people often cut queue and ignore others comments or ask their friends to buy for them. When you tell them that cutting queue is not allowed, they will something like 'He also cut queue mah' or 'You see, you see, that teacher is also cutting queue, if teachers can, why can't I too cut the queue'. Students should refrain from cutting queues. Perhaps we can add higher fences at queue or something to prevent people from cutting queues and a special queue for teachers only.
Also, when the queues are long, it tend to waste the time of our recess or lunch break. I suggest a longer recess and a break time by about 10minutes so that we could enjoy our meals and when teachers let us off a bit later, we can still have sufficient time to eat or play.
In addition, it can be quite sunny in the classrooms especially during the morning hours. Adding in curtains by ourselves may be a solution but at the end of the year, when the students are separated into different classes, the curtains are thrown away, causing wastage. I suggest that we can have built-in curtains to prevent wastage.
Mrs Lee said...
Thank you for your feedback. It will be shared to all teachers.
Rachel 5C said...
Not to let newcomer teachers teach P5 because they do not have enough experience to really quieten down some more talkative ones.
Mrs Lee said...

Chiang Yan Qi 5K said...
Dear Mrs Lee,
The school should allow the p4, p5 and p6 more science lessons, better apparatus for science experiments and sufficent experiments to prove concepts and increase understanding of them.
Also, the canteen should have more stalls. During recess/lunch, there are not enough stalls, so queues are extremely long. Thus, we might spend up to 25 minutes of recess queuing for our food and have only 5 minutes to gobble the food up, which is not healthy for us. The school can consider extending recess or providing the pupils with more stalls in the canteen.
Also, the arrangements of the classrooms are a common bother to me every morning, since I have to climb to the 5th storey to reach my classroom, and I feel more miserable when my bag is extremely heavy. I suggest the P1s and P2s have their classrooms right at level 5/6 as their bags are light, they are more agile and have more energy. It is also closer to their assembly point.
The last thing I would like to bring your attention to is the cleanliness of the canteen and toilets. Toilets are often not flushed, wet toilet paper is thrown onto the ceiling, etc.
The canteen is often dirtied by the P1s-P3s. They do not clear their plates and bows, making the canteen a mess.
I hope you take these matters into concern.
Mrs Lee said...
P1 and P2 are younger children. It is safer for P1 and P2 to use the lower floor. Your suggestion will be considered by the Science Department and canteen committee.
